About The Position

This role involves patching desktops/servers, installing and configuring software, hardware, and networks; responding to service outages, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting systems issues. Responsibilities include monthly Microsoft patching, maintaining WSUS servers (classified), downloading and testing updates, updating CCB documentation, participating in the Configuration Control Board (CCB) for proposed system modifications, reviewing proposed changes for vulnerabilities, performing monthly vulnerability scans (SCAP), and potentially scripting, light programming, and project management for systems-related projects. This position may require being on-call as needed for after-hours support. You will install new software, troubleshoot, grant permissions to applications, and assist in training lesser experienced administrators. You will perform system updates, make recommendations on server configurations, and implement changes in multiple environments. You will respond to alerts, customer-reported issues, escalate problems, and resolve significant matters. Familiarity with security hardening concepts, reporting/remediation, and experience writing POAMs is expected. You will deploy approved release packages and break-fix solutions in accordance with enterprise architecture and configuration, change, and release management policies. You will monitor infrastructure, systems operations, and critical application services 24/7, provide information on system limits, and respond to critical outages. Experience developing and interpreting detailed installation instructions and supporting documentation is required. You will provide technical expertise in system design, installation, configuration, tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. You will participate in the validation matrix role to test and validate solutions. You will set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, and install system-wide software. The ability to perform work under continuous deadline pressure is necessary. Data Transfer Agent (DTA) duties are also part of this role, including being the primary POC for DTA activities and moving data files to the system when necessary.

Requirements

  • Secret clearance level
  • US citizenship required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • At least 5 years work experience with the design, installation, administration & maintenance of Windows (versions up to WIN11 and Server 2026)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to work with business partners, engineering, operations, and vendors
  • Demonstrated success in automating server builds, standardizing images
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a service oriented mindset
