About The Position

Provides essential systems administration, endpoint management, and advanced technical support for Texas Athletics Information Technology, with emphasis on secure, reliable, and efficient desktop, server, and platform operations. This role involves managing configurations, deploying software, applying patches, and maintaining endpoint compliance. It also includes proactive security monitoring, responding to security notices, and supporting vulnerability remediation efforts. The position administers on-premises and remote servers, SaaS platforms, and enterprise technology platforms. Advanced technical support is provided to Athletics staff, systems, applications, and endpoint issues, including troubleshooting complex technical problems. Support is also provided for major home contests and other events. The role includes developing and maintaining scripts, deployment workflows, system documentation, and operational procedures to improve service delivery. Additionally, it serves as a senior technical resource for helpdesk staff and student workers, providing guidance and support. The position requires adherence to core values, ethical conduct, and compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and regulations. It may involve reporting incidents of prohibited conduct under Title IX.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of professional experience providing systems administration, endpoint management, or enterprise technology support.
  • Experience supporting Windows and/or macOS environments, enterprise software applications, and endpoint management tools.
  • Working knowledge of JAMF, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, imaging, software deployment, patching, scripting, and basic networking concepts.
  • Ability to provide effective tier 2 and tier 3 technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, meet deadlines, and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Class "C" operator's driver's license.
  • Provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence.
  • If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Nice To Haves

  • Four or more years of professional experience providing systems administration, endpoint management, or enterprise application support.
  • Relevant industry certifications in systems administration, endpoint management, information security, or cloud services.
  • Experience in Higher Education and/or Athletics IT.
  • Experience with information security best practices, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, software deployment, machine imaging, and patching.
  • Experience developing scripts in platforms such as PowerShell or batch and creating or editing group policies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer endpoint management platforms, including JAMF and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, to manage configurations, image machines, deploy software, apply patches, and maintain endpoint compliance across the Athletics computing environment.
  • Proactively monitor Splunk dashboards, respond promptly to Information Security Office notices, and support security vulnerability remediation by coordinating remediation activities, validating compliance, assisting with device hardening, and supporting risk reduction efforts.
  • Administer on-premises and remote servers, Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms, enterprise technology platforms, and related systems in alignment with Athletics IT and University standards.
  • Provide in-person and remote tier 2 and tier 3 support for Athletics staff, systems, applications, and endpoint issues; troubleshoot complex technical problems and escalate or coordinate resolution as needed.
  • Support the Athletics Department at major home contests, including Football home games, in support of operations. Occasionally support other events as needed.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, deployment workflows, system documentation, and operational procedures to improve service delivery, consistency, and system reliability.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for full-time helpdesk staff and student workers, providing guidance, knowledge transfer, and support for advanced issues and daily IT operations.

Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation.
  • In compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and Texas Education Code Sec. 51.252, this position may be a Non-Confidential Employee as defined by University policies on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Interpersonal Violence and Stalking. As a Non-Confidential Employee, individuals employed in this position will report incidents of such prohibited conduct to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as required by applicable law or University policy.
