About The Position

EMCO Technologies is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator II to support our operations at the Marshall Space Flight Center. This position is responsible for administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows-based systems, user accounts, network connectivity, and the Esri ArcGIS environment. The work arrangement is primarily onsite, with limited telework opportunities. The successful candidate will have practical experience with Windows administration, Active Directory, user rights and permissions, basic networking protocols, system patching, and technical troubleshooting. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with users, technical teams, and program leadership in a mission-critical environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related technical field; relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • At least four years of progressively responsible systems-administration experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory, including users, groups, permissions, organizational units, and Group Policy.
  • Experience managing user rights, file and folder permissions, shared drives, and access controls.
  • Understanding of fundamental networking concepts, including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, ports, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience installing, configuring, patching, and troubleshooting enterprise software and operating systems.
  • Ability to analyze system logs and use diagnostic tools to identify the source of technical problems.
  • Ability to document technical procedures and communicate solutions clearly to both technical and nontechnical users.
  • Strong customer-service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary technical team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any background investigation, security clearance, badge, or system access required by the contract.
  • Must meet applicable federal customer and contractual eligibility requirements such as US Citizenship required for Public Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows servers, workstations, and related enterprise systems.
  • Create, modify, disable, and troubleshoot user and computer accounts in Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Manage security groups, Group Policy, user rights, file permissions, shared resources, and access controls.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot operating systems and software applications.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, security, storage capacity, and overall system health.
  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, DHCP, ports, firewalls, and related protocols.
  • Use standard diagnostic tools to identify and resolve system, application, and network-related problems.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of the Esri ArcGIS environment, including ArcGIS Enterprise components, services, user access, licensing, and system availability.
  • Assist with troubleshooting ArcGIS application, server, database connectivity, and performance issues.
  • Review system logs, event logs, alerts, and monitoring tools to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform routine system backups, recovery activities, and continuity-of-operations support.
  • Apply security patches and configuration changes in accordance with cybersecurity requirements and established change-management procedures.
  • Maintain accurate system configurations, technical procedures, account records, troubleshooting documentation, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests through the designated IT service-management system.
  • Coordinate with network, cybersecurity, database, application, and service-desk teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, testing, maintenance activities, and special projects.
  • Escalate unresolved or high-impact issues to senior administrators or appropriate technical teams.
  • Provide timely status updates to users, technical leads, and program management.
  • Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance or on-call support when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
