About The Position

Texas A&M's IT Enterprise Operations department is hiring a Systems Administrator each with a specific focus depending upon the teams mission as described below. You will have an opportunity to tell us more about which team you would be most interested in and why! We are recruiting for multiple levels of a Systems Administrator and our immediate needs are for Systems Administrator II and III positions. Compensation and classification is based on the analyses of the above qualifications during the recruitment process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and three years of systems administration experience (for Systems Administrator II)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and five years of systems administration experience (for Systems Administrator III)
  • A Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system
  • This position is security sensitive.
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements

Nice To Haves

  • A blend of experience with Python Development, Enterprise Storage, VMware Cloud Foundation, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Enterprise Backup services, and infrastructure automation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of project management, mentoring, negotiation skills, basic vendor relations, advanced client relations skills, proposal writing, business acumen, persuasive communication, adaptability to change, team leadership skills, and quality assurance methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system
  • This role may require working outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the demands of technology services and ensure the seamless operation of essential systems.
