About The Position

AttainX is seeking a System Administrator I to provide technical support and ensure the integrity, reliability, and performance of operating systems and desktop environments for a federal government client. The System Administrator I will work closely with more senior IT staff to maintain systems, perform routine upgrades, and troubleshoot technical issues in support of consistent system uptime and user productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field OR Equivalent Experience.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in system administration or technical support.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows OS environments and networked desktop systems.
  • Working knowledge of VMware, SANs, Linux/Windows servers, networking infrastructure, and advanced security tools.
  • Familiarity with standard maintenance procedures such as system backups, file management, and recovery.
  • Demonstrated experience with Automation and Scripting.
  • Ability to follow structured troubleshooting protocols and support documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a closely managed support role.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Norman, OK.
  • Must be able to obtain a moderate public trust security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to installing and configuring system software and hardware.
  • Building, scanning, and configuration management of Linux/RHEL systems.
  • Experience working with antivirus, security software, or system monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with managing user credentials and access permissions.
  • Knowledge of documentation tools and IT ticketing systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize incoming support requests.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the integrity of the operating system environment and end-user computer systems.
  • Perform basic systems maintenance tasks, including routine backups, recovery operations, and file system management.
  • Acquire, install, and test system software updates and hardware components.
  • Assist in configuring software applications and resolving technical problems under supervision.
  • Support documentation of IT infrastructure, asset tracking, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to system alerts or user-reported issues to ensure consistent system uptime.
  • Maintain data security standards and help manage user accounts and access controls.
  • Provide timely and professional support to end users and escalate complex issues as needed.
