About The Position

Administers, develops, runs tests on, implements, and maintains operating system and related software. Manages and administrates all operating systems and their corresponding or associated software. Manages communications and connection solutions, including local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications. Manages and ensures the integrity of host computers, multiple databases and data transfer. Deploys and maintains firewalls, cryptography systems, and all host security activities. Oversees installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user desktops. Installs and configures messaging and printer systems. Distributes and supervises server storage space allotments. Designs and implements disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications. Provides on-call technical support. Analyzes system or application usage and plans for growth or increases in network capacity. Assesses needs for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and executes them if required. Ensures connectivity of all workstations. Conducts research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts. Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services. Develops, implements and maintains policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use. Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. Establishes service level agreements with end users. Administers and maintains end user accounts, permissions, and access rights. Performs network and security audits. Performs system backups. Monitors and tests server software performance and provides statistics and reports. Recommends, schedules, and performs software improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases. Manages and/or provides guidance to junior members of the team.

Requirements

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Certified Professional and Microsoft Security Plus
  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems
  • Extensive application support experience
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards
  • Strong knowledge of local area network administration
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with data management
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals
  • Ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
