About The Position

The Systems Administrator I performs multiple functions to ensure IT infrastructure is available, reliable, secure, and stable either individually or under the guidance of experienced personnel. This role will be responsible for monitoring systems and serving as a focal point for support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Information Systems, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, with a minimum of 24 semester hours of computer-related courses, or two additional years of direct work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

Nice To Haves

  • Understands fundamentals of specific operating systems (Windows Server).
  • Basic knowledge and experience in scripting/coding tools to support database, web, cloud infrastructure as code and application administration.
  • Skills identifying and resolving technical problems.
  • Experience with Exchange on-prem server and hybrid cloud environment
  • Experience with M365, Exchange online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive
  • Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Management
  • General understanding of installation, configuration and administration of enterprise web services, application servers, databases, clustering backup and recovery systems, portals, firewalls, virtual private networks, terminal services, authentication and authorization, collaboration, and load balancing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains systems including installing and testing new releases.
  • Monitors and evaluates operating efficiency, analyze performance and tuning.
  • Mitigates application and operating system vulnerabilities to ensure security of information systems.
  • Analyzes system problems to identify problem areas.
  • Follows established procedures required for efficient management of the infrastructure.
  • Maintains appropriate records including statistical reports, inventories, and technical documentation among others.
  • Installs new or enhanced applications and/or hardware; assist in the installation of servers.
  • Supports small to medium projects according to division standards.
  • Remains knowledgeable of industry direction to apply to the business.
  • Install, configure, manage, patch, troubleshoot, and upgrade Windows Servers and Domain Controllers
  • Patching and vulnerability management of all platforms and products
  • Evaluate, customize and maintain systems including installing and testing new releases
  • Follow established procedures required for efficient management of the infrastructure
  • Install new or enhanced applications and/or hardware; assist in the installation of servers
  • Resolve escalated service requests and support tickets related to Windows server environments
  • Work closely and escalates issues directly with vendors to ensure that supporting operating systems are compliant with applications, including required patch levels, hot fixes, and revisions.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements
