About The Position

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a Systems Administrator in the IT department. This position will be responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and ongoing support of enterprise systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure components. Will work collaboratively with project teams, application teams, and other technical staff to build, support, monitor, and optimize the organization's technical environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience, and 1 to 3 years in Information Technology environment
  • 5+ years of related technical support experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document work, produce clear ticket notes, and explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows platforms, including current Windows Server versions and common server roles/services (e.g., AD DS, DNS, DHCP, file/print).
  • Active Directory administration fundamentals (users, groups, permissions, basic OU/GPO concepts) and troubleshooting authentication/access issues.
  • Basic-to-intermediate PowerShell /Terminal skills for routine administration and automation.
  • Virtualization fundamentals (VMware/vSphere or equivalent): VM provisioning/support, snapshots, and basic resource/performance troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of patching and maintenance processes, including testing, scheduling, deployment, and documentation.
  • Backup/restore fundamentals: monitoring jobs, performing restores, and participating in recovery testing and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise server platforms and associated hardware, both on-premises and hosted, to ensure availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Provide second-level support for incidents and service requests escalated to the Systems Administrator, including troubleshooting and resolution of complex issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis for system and infrastructure issues; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and performance; identify and escalate risks that could impact service availability.
  • Monitor, respond to, and escalate facilities or environmental issues that affect the data center or server environments.
  • Follow established security standards and procedures; assist with remediation of security findings as directed by senior staff.
  • Participate in the planning, build, testing, and deployment of new systems, upgrades, and infrastructure changes.
  • Assist senior technical staff with system installation, configuration, migration, and upgrade activities in accordance with approved designs and standards.
  • Support change and release activities by following documented procedures and contributing to post-implementation validation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date system documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with application teams, technical teams, and business units to design and implement server and infrastructure solutions that meet operational needs.
  • Recommend appropriate infrastructure components and technical solutions to support approved projects and initiatives.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
