About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Systems Administration, Senior Associate to work onsite at Sierra Sierra Vista, Arizona. This role involves maintaining, upgrading, and resolving issues with Microsoft Windows and Linux-based servers and workstations. Key responsibilities include installation and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, anti-virus software, virtualization solutions, and data backup systems. The position also requires performing cybersecurity tasks such as STIGs and compliance scanning, and scheduling system backups and restores within a Zero-trust environment. The role provides general technical maintenance support for desktop hardware, operating systems, and COTS software, which may involve local or remote assistance, and travel to other government offices. The Senior Associate will assist government IT technical support staff with documentation and configuration of new hardware and software. This includes hardware maintenance support, implementations, preventive/preemptive troubleshooting, and hardware upgrades (Firmware, BIOS, Service Packs, Memory). Software support (COTS/in-house custom) involves add, move, or change implementations, routine preventive/preemptive troubleshooting, and software upgrades (Versions, OS, Anti-virus). The role also includes operating simulation systems, providing configuration management of exercise files, launching, and supporting exercises using specific simulation platforms. Scripting solutions for data manipulation, transmission, and file transfers using languages like Perl, Python, or PowerShell are also required. Exceptional customer service, strong communication and interpersonal skills, responsiveness, and understanding of customer needs are essential. The position requires participation in technical research and development for infrastructure innovation, providing tier 2 and 3 support, investigating and resolving issues, and offering technical guidance to team members. Documentation of problem resolutions, adherence to best practices, and sharing lessons learned are important. Customer training to improve effectiveness and leverage of IT is also a responsibility. Staying current on cutting-edge technology for training initiatives and possessing solid knowledge of SQL databases are necessary. The role requires knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Server performance monitoring, tuning, patching, troubleshooting (diagnostics/recovery), and the use of MMC and snap-ins. Experience managing devices, systems, and communication architectures in a geographically dispersed environment is needed. The position maintains the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, coordinating with network administrators, and requires cross-training and operation of additional systems.

Requirements

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Security+ Certification
  • Top Secret SCI with C/I Poly security clearance or the ability to obtain
  • Solid knowledge of SQL databases.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Server performance monitoring, tuning, patching, troubleshooting (diagnostics/recovery), use of MMC and snap-ins.
  • Knowledge and experience managing devices, systems, and communication architectures in a geographically dispersed environment.

Responsibilities

  • System administrator and simulation operator who maintains, upgrades, and resolves issues with Microsoft windows and Linux based servers and workstations.
  • Installation and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, anti-virus software, virtualization solutions, and data backup systems.
