System Vice Chair and Director of Medical Physics

Temple Health•Philadelphia, PA

About The Position

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple Health seeks an accomplished medical physicist to serve as System Vice Chair and Director of Medical Physics. This senior leadership role will help guide the strategic, clinical, educational, research, quality, and operational direction of medical physics across the health system. The Vice Chair will work closely with the Chair of Radiation Oncology and departmental and institutional leaders, as well as physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, therapists, nurses, engineers, IT professionals, administrators, and other partners, to advance safe, innovative, patient-centered radiation oncology care. The department is part of an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and includes four clinical sites: Fox Chase Cancer Center Main, Temple University Hospital Main, FCCC Buckingham, and FCCC East Norriton. It has more than 200 staff, including 19 attending radiation oncologists and 15 PhD medical physicists. Its educational programs include radiation oncology and medical physics residencies, a dosimetry school, and clinical electives for radiation therapy students. The department treats approximately 2,400 new cancer patients annually and delivers more than 35,000 individual radiation treatments across its four sites each year. The department operates 11 linear accelerators, including a 45 MV racetrack microtron, radiosurgical and SBRT platforms, and two brachytherapy suites. It has installed six new Varian and Elekta linear accelerators over the past five years, including systems with CT adaptive radiation therapy and frameless cobalt-60 radiosurgery capabilities. Imaging and image-guidance resources include CT, PET, 3T and 1.5T MRI simulators, Brainlab ExacTrac Dynamic, kV and MV cone beam CT, and Identify and VisionRT surface guidance. The CT adaptive radiation therapy program at Fox Chase Cancer Center Main has treated more than 1,000 unique patients on the Ethos linear accelerator since beginning in 2023. The brachytherapy suites at Fox Chase Cancer Center Main and Temple University Hospital Main support prostate implant and gynecologic brachytherapy services. Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae and a letter of interest describing their leadership experience, clinical physics expertise, academic accomplishments, vision for medical physics, and commitment to advancing safe, high-quality radiation oncology care. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Temple Health and Fox Chase Cancer Center are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative environment. Qualified applicants will receive consideration consistent with applicable institutional policies and federal, state, and local laws.
