About The Position

This is a journey-level protection engineering role responsible for technical protection engineering on routine projects and maintenance and operations support. Duties include issuing protection requirements, developing relay and automatic settings, processing clearances, and investigating relay operations. The position requires moderate training, direction, and review from senior engineers and peers, with minimal assistance for routine protection duties. The engineer may perform the functions of an Associate System Protection Engineer and also provide guidance to peers and lower-level engineers; handle transmission protection duties for voltages up to and including 230 kV; work on distribution protection; and support special or complex projects and schemes. The role also participates in developing design standards, tools, and relay schemes. The position is hybrid, working from a remote office and an assigned work location within the PG&E Service Territory based on business needs. The role is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and subject to collective bargaining.
