About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a System / Process Engineer to lead wet equipment definition for 300 mm wafer-level processing. This role bridges process requirements and tool specifications, ensuring alignment between technology needs and equipment capabilities. As a Systems Engineer, you’ll design, integrate, and optimize complex systems that drive the semiconductor industry forward. Your expertise in systems thinking and problem-solving is essential as you collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop advanced solutions to intricate processes and writing system specifications. You’ll be responsible for analyzing requirements, defining system architectures, conducting thorough testing, and ensuring seamless integration of subsystems. Additionally, you’ll identify and mitigate risks, confirming that our systems meet the highest quality standards and exceed customer expectations.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor processing equipment
  • Strong knowledge of wet processing systems and chemical handling
  • Experience with tool selection and vendor engagement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in advanced packaging or wafer-level substrate processing
  • Familiarity with fab integration considerations (UPH, automation, factory layout)

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements for wet processing tools: Cleaning, wet etch, and surface preparation
  • Translate process needs into equipment specifications
  • Conduct vendor benchmarking and selection
  • Evaluate tool performance, footprint, throughput, and facility constraints
  • Collaborate with process, facilities, and integration teams
  • Identify gaps between process requirements and available solutions
  • Design, integrate, and optimize complex systems
