About The Position

As a summer System Integrity Engineering Intern with South Jersey Gas, you will assist department managers and personnel with projects and initiatives while gaining hands-on experience. Engineering internship opportunities include basic engineering work related to design, analysis, testing, project management, and system integrity. Interns typically support one or more experienced engineers, shadow operations, complete assignments supporting larger projects, and experience the day-to-day work of the engineering department. Interns may also participate in activities and events to build connections within the South Jersey Gas community and with fellow interns.

Requirements

• Pursuing an engineering degree at an ABET-accredited college or university; Mechanical or Civil Engineering students are preferred, and students of any collegiate year may be considered.
• Strong verbal or written communication skills.
• Professional demeanor, strong sense of commitment, and ability to evaluate complex information.
• Ability to support and assist coworkers as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

• Rising Junior, Senior, or Master's Engineering student.
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Experience using Python or another programming language.

Responsibilities

• Support the department Manager and Engineers in executing larger project responsibilities.
• Perform calculations, analyses, and research for upcoming department projects.
• Create basic engineering schematics using design software.
• Support the Distribution and Transmission Integrity Management Programs through records investigation and data gathering and analysis.
• Assist with drafting, finalizing, and implementing new technical reports and process-improvement recommendations.
• Prepare and collaborate on a cross-functional project to present to the SJI Executive Leadership Team.
