About The Position

Leidos is seeking a System Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team working on the Federal Aviation Administration’s En Route Information Display System (ERIDS) program, also known as ERAM. ERAM is the central air traffic control system for U.S. high-altitude en route control centers. It processes and displays radar surveillance and flight data for air traffic controllers, ensuring safe management of aircraft within the National Airspace System (NAS). The system is integral to NextGen modernization efforts, including ADS-B, Data Communications, and System Wide Information Management (SWIM). This position requires the candidate to be located in Pomona, NJ, to interface with the FAA customer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 9+ years of professional experience; or a master’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Ability to obtain an SF-85P Public Trust clearance from the FAA customer.
  • Experience leading a diverse System Engineering team, directing team activities.
  • Experience with workload, staffing, and personnel management.
  • Experience with a large-scale system development program in a system engineering leadership capacity.
  • Strong communication skills to interface with internal and external customers.
  • Experience driving a team to critical milestones.

  • Air Traffic Knowledge and experience working Air Traffic programs.

  • ATMC certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage System Engineering lifecycle activities, including the development of Change Requests (CRs), System Integration Group (SIG) items, and Preliminary Engineering Design Documents (PREDs), along with all associated SE documentation.
  • Plan engineering tasks, deadlines, milestones, and task sequencing, and apply tracking metrics.
  • Provide technical oversight for the System Engineering staff.
  • Collaborate with customer stakeholders to understand and capture user requirements.
  • Lead productivity improvements and the adoption/use of AI in daily business operations.
  • Perform Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities for applicable control accounts.
  • Conduct cost estimating, workload, and manpower planning, including authoring Basis of Estimates (BOEs), to support the team's current and future business needs on the program (e.g., proposals and task order preparation).
  • Manage and track schedules, risks, opportunities, defects, change requests, and action items.
  • Ensure the delivery of quality work products, including specifications, code, plans, and procedures, in accordance with program requirements.
  • Facilitate planning meetings, peer reviews, and customer-facing sessions to align with System Engineering objectives and schedules.
  • Interface with the FAA customer to address and answer questions related to cost, schedule, resource management, and technical aspects of the System Engineering team.
  • Develop and conduct interim and performance reviews for department personnel, initiate award programs, and manage other employee personnel activities.
