About The Position

The SDA Lead Engineer provides technical leadership within the System Domain Architecture team, developing system-level architectural concepts, performing technical analyses, aligning work across domains, and enabling architecture realization across products and programs. The role works with System Domain Architects, System Engineering, MDU Architects, technical leads, and development teams to translate product requirements, customer needs, and business objectives into robust architectural solutions. The engineer contributes to system architectures for one or more products and supports multiple MDUs through technical leadership, architecture execution, and cross-functional alignment. The role supports architectural decision making, technical trade-off analysis, interface management, and integration planning, while promoting consistency across disciplines and subsystems through technical studies, architecture reviews, risk assessments, and roadmap alignment. It also supports architecture governance and technical excellence throughout the product lifecycle, and helps develop engineers and future technical leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a relevant technical field.
  • Typically 10 or more years of experience in complex multidisciplinary system development.
  • Experience working across multiple subsystems, engineering disciplines, or business lines.
  • Proven experience leading technical initiatives across teams and organizational boundaries.
  • Strong experience in systems engineering, system architecture, integration, or technical leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous technical problems and drive alignment among diverse stakeholders.
  • Recognized technical expertise and ability to influence technical direction and decision making without direct authority.
  • Experience balancing customer value, business objectives, technology roadmaps, and engineering excellence.
  • Ability to develop system-level architectural analyses and solution alternatives aligned with business objectives, customer needs, and system requirements.
  • Ability to define, analyze, and align requirements, interfaces, and boundary conditions across subsystems and engineering domains.
  • Ability to lead technical studies, simulations, and trade-off analyses that balance performance, risk, cost, schedule, maintainability, and roadmap considerations.
  • Ability to identify architectural risks, integration challenges, and technical debt and drive structured problem solving and mitigation.
  • Ability to support technology roadmaps, architecture governance, design rules, and architectural standards.
  • Ability to translate technical challenges into priorities, work plans, and measurable outcomes.
  • Willingness to seek feedback, learn continuously, and adapt leadership and communication approaches.
  • Ability to integrate diverse technical perspectives and encourage constructive technical debate.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and share knowledge while fostering collaboration across organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to connect architecture objectives, technology strategy, and business goals through communication and stakeholder alignment.
