About The Position

This role involves building tools to automate and streamline processes for fleet operations, responding to large-scale events, and diagnosing/fixing critical software and system failures. The engineer will also serve as a mentor, provide first-line support for operational tickets, and propose/implement technical solutions for automation, efficiency, and scalability. Collaboration with software development teams to support corporate infrastructure systems and perform database queries using various operating systems and SQL Server databases is also a key aspect of the role, along with providing technical consultation to internal customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field and one year of experience in the job offered, or as a Systems Administrator, or a related occupation.
  • Three years of experience in the job offered or related occupation as equivalent to the Bachelor's degree and one year of experience.
  • One year of experience in supporting large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services.
  • One year of experience in designing and implementing platforms to deliver provisioning using shell scripting.
  • One year of experience with programming languages including SQL, PowerShell, Perl, Bash, Python, PHP, or Ruby.
  • One year of experience in supporting and maintaining database servers including MySQL, Oracle, or equivalent database.
  • One year of experience in troubleshooting systemic problems in a Windows, Linux, or Unix based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build tools that automate and streamline processes to make fleet operations more efficient.
  • Respond to large scale events involving these fleets.
  • Diagnose and fix critical software and system failures.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to other engineers and assist in training new engineers.
  • Provide first line of defense daytime support for operational tickets for all software development teams within the organization.
  • Propose, drive and implement technical solutions for automation, efficiency and scalability.
  • Partner with the software development teams to support corporate infrastructure systems and perform database queries (SQL) using Window, Linux, or Unix based operating systems and SQL Server databases.
  • Provide support and technical consultation to Amazon internal customers.
