About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring customers have continual access to innovation. This role is part of a global Data Center Engineering team focused on the design, development, automation, and continuous innovation within the data center footprint. The Controls Products & Services team has full product ownership to design, develop, and deliver electrical and mechanical controls systems that programmatically scale compute capacity, aiming for world-class uptime, reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. As an engineer at Amazon, you will have the ability to drive change and make a substantial impact on the systems customers rely on. Teamwork is essential, and this role involves working within a team and collaborating with cross-functional groups throughout the global Data Center Engineering organization. The ideal candidate is a creative, smart, and driven individual who enjoys working with complex problems, where great ideas are encouraged and supported, and ingenuity drives focus on quality, speed, and cost.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-disciplinary setting with ability to influence and drive others.

  • Advises peer engineers and management team.
  • Make technical trade-offs between short-term project goals and long-term business needs.
  • Develop common libraries and reusable modular components to accelerate build cycles.
  • Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the software development cycle for data center controls products.
  • Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center controls products.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management, and partner teams.
  • Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
  • Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating complete ownership.
  • Work with global partners to deliver electrical and mechanical controls products.
