About The Position

This role provides intermediate analysis and documentation of existing hospital and administrative procedures, recommending improvements for workflow efficiency, whether manual or automated, to maximize productivity and control costs. The position involves providing daily operational support for LIS-related issues, requests, and troubleshooting across multiple laboratory departments. Key responsibilities include supporting test build, maintenance, order/result workflows, routing rules, labels, reports, and interface-related activities. The role also assists with validation, testing, documentation, and implementation of new LIS functionality, upgrades, interfaces, instruments, and workflow changes. The analyst will collaborate with laboratory staff, IT teams, vendors, and operational leaders to investigate and resolve system or workflow issues, monitor and support laboratory interfaces, instrument connections, middleware, result delivery, and electronic order/result transmission. Additionally, the position involves participating in LIS change control, issue tracking, service request management, and maintaining accurate documentation for system changes, testing evidence, downtime procedures, and operational support processes. Support for regulatory, compliance, quality, and audit-related activities, as well as user access, security requests, training support, and communication of LIS updates, is also required. The role extends to supporting outreach, reference lab, point-of-care, and hospital-based laboratory workflows, and participating in on-call, after-hours, weekend, or downtime support coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field
  • Three years related experience

  • Experience supporting Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) across multiple laboratory areas
  • Strong understanding of general laboratory operations and workflows
  • Generalist experience supporting areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Anatomic Pathology, Molecular, Point of Care, Outreach, and Specimen Management
  • Experience with Epic Beaker or other LIS platforms
  • Knowledge of laboratory interfaces, instrument connectivity, result routing, order build, test maintenance, troubleshooting, validation, and operational support
  • Ability to work collaboratively with laboratory leadership, technical staff, IT teams, vendors, and operational stakeholders to support system stability, workflow efficiency, and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

  • Plans the study of current departmental systems.
  • Gathers and organizes information on system including present operating procedures.
  • Analyzes data and considers all available solutions, either manual or automated.
  • Organizes and documents study and prepares recommendations for implementation of new systems.
  • Conducts operational effectiveness reviews.
  • Conducts preliminary survey of vendor solutions.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Provides daily operational support for LIS-related issues, requests, and troubleshooting across multiple laboratory departments.
  • Supports test build, maintenance, order/result workflows, routing rules, labels, reports, and interface-related activities.
  • Assists with validation, testing, documentation, and implementation of new LIS functionality, upgrades, interfaces, instruments, and workflow changes.
  • Works with laboratory staff, IT teams, vendors, and operational leaders to investigate and resolve system or workflow issues.
  • Monitors and supports laboratory interfaces, instrument connections, middleware, result delivery, and electronic order/result transmission.
  • Participates in LIS change control, issue tracking, service request management, and follow-up through completion.
