About The Position

The System Administrator IV holds overall responsibility for the operation and upkeep of computer systems, servers, and networks supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) GSP TO7 at ATAMMC, Fort Belvoir, VA. This senior-level administrator supervises all system administration functions, provides strategic direction, and mentors junior staff in support of ATAMMC operations, while managing the day-to-day integrity, security, and availability of infrastructure platforms and collaborating with architecture and engineering teams to evaluate and implement new infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency in system administration
  • Experience deploying and sustaining enterprise server operating systems including Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, and VMware.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Active Directory in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with backup/recovery operations, performance monitoring, and capacity analysis.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation including SOPs, maintenance guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Experience with DISA STIG compliance in DoD IT environments.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for system management tasks.
  • DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) proficiency level: Advanced. Cyber Role Designation: 451 - System Administrator - Advanced.
  • CompTIA CASP+, or (ISC)² CISSP is required to Start.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and/or equivalency.
  • Tier 3 (T3) Background Investigation required. All personnel must obtain favorable suitability adjudication prior to commencement of duties.
  • This role requires an active Secret Security Clearance, customer approval, and successful completion of a pre-employment background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, sustain, and troubleshoot server operating systems and their related infrastructure.
  • Manage the day-to-day administration, integrity, security, and availability of infrastructure platforms.
  • Perform daily system backups, monitor performance and capacity, and maintain a secure operational posture.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including SOPs, maintenance guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to evaluate, recommend, and test new infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Perform infrastructure maintenance and security upgrades.
  • Perform automation, including writing scripts using common scripting languages; requires deep understanding of operating systems, networking, security, and cloud computing.
  • Provide strategic direction for system administration and mentor junior staff.
  • Lead projects related to infrastructure upgrades and optimization; manages as site lead.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and optimize server operating systems (e.g., Microsoft, Linux, and VMware).
  • Sustain Microsoft Active Directory, including object creation and maintenance.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis to identify, document, and resolve problems as directed.
  • Apply, document, and gain approval for application STIGs.
  • Participate in On-Call/Call-Back rotation for Engineering Services
