This role involves systems administration engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance, and research and development to ensure continual innovation. The administrator will install and configure new and existing servers, including hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage, adhering to standards and project requirements. Daily tasks include system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing logs, and ensuring scheduled jobs like backups are completed. Security monitoring for intrusions is also a key responsibility. The role includes verifying daily backup operations, performing file archival and purging, and managing user accounts. Additionally, the administrator will provide Tier III support, troubleshoot issues, diagnose and recover from failures, and coordinate with affected parties. Responsibilities also encompass applying OS patches and upgrades, upgrading administrative tools, configuring new services, maintaining operational procedures, performing performance reporting for capacity planning, and ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization. This includes configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions, and maintaining data center environmental and monitoring equipment. The role may also involve upgrading system software or Asset Management applications.
