About The Position

The System Administrator will directly work with systems supporting design, provisioning, installation and configuration of hardware and software under the direction of the Shift Supervisor. This is an entry to mid-level position that works with various departments within the company, provides customer service and consistant communication to clients, internal teams and vendors to diagnose, solve problems, author procedures, diagrams, and to schedule maintenances. This role is required to have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a 24 X 7 NOC environment. Essential Functions: Provide instruction and perform complex administration of various applications, Microsoft technologies and server, storage and backup systems. Comfortable working on moderately complex tickets, troubleshooting and configuration of Windows Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft DNS and DHCP, Enterprise Patching, file and print services. Document and track all support activities in a ticket system, including time recording, issue identification, resolution steps, and follow-up communication, with clear and concise communication. Escalate issues to appropriate supervisor for ticket reassignments to appropriate technical teams or higher-level support in a timely manner. Able to advise on next steps to be taken on a wide range of break/fix ticket types. Install new and rebuild existing servers, configure hardware, peripherals and services in accordance with standards and project requirements. Perform installations, integrations, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of various software technologies from multiple vendors. Advise and work closely with the shift supervisor, in addition to partnering with other business management to assure operational success of activities. Troubleshooting and configure moderate to complex server and applications across IaaS/PaaS/SaaS related compute. Authoring, interpreting and maintaining system documentation. Lead and participate as a technical resource supporting root cause analysis of reported issues, troubleshooting and resolution. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain customer service in a fast-paced environment. Experience with monitoring systems and troubleshooting concepts. Follows Knowledge Base processes and procedures for Quest and clients. Follows proper security protocols, including user authentication, data encryption, access controls, and incident reporting to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with organizational and industry security standards. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Managed a domain environment with 50 servers or more.
  • 3 years of experience troubleshooting IT performance problems and performing application releases.
  • 3 years’ experience with Operating Systems, Workstations and Servers.
  • 2 years’ Experience in Patch Management, domain management, and server application management.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to author, present and explain technical information to diverse types of audiences.
  • Ability to evaluate technical solutions and recommend solutions.
  • Experience in working in a 24x7 operations model.
  • General experience with networking concepts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Benefits

  • $30 - $40 an hour (depending on experience)
  • Quest has 24 pay periods per calendar year.
