About The Position

At Independent Software, as a System Administrator Level 2, you will support the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux systems in a secure technical environment. You will work with operating systems, network services, virtualization technologies, automation tools, and system monitoring solutions to maintain reliable and secure system operations. This role requires hands-on system administration experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and an understanding of security best practices.

Requirements

  • Experience administering Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux command-line interfaces
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash and PowerShell
  • Experience with system administration and automation tools, including Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Knowledge of network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
  • Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, and Docker
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Zabbix, ELK, or similar technologies
  • Understanding of system security best practices and protocols
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Must possess a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+ CE or another qualifying IAT Level II certification.
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Use command-line tools to configure, manage, and troubleshoot systems
  • Support system automation using scripting and administration tools
  • Administer Windows services and technologies, including Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Configure and troubleshoot network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
  • Support virtualized and containerized environments
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability using logging and monitoring tools
  • Perform system maintenance, patching, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Apply security best practices and protocols to system administration activities
  • Document system configurations, technical issues, and resolutions
  • Escalate and coordinate complex technical issues as appropriate
