About The Position

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for professionals experienced in automated planning, symbolic AI, computer science research, artificial intelligence, machine learning, operations research, advanced problem design, and structured technical evaluation. This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on AI reasoning evaluation, domain-specific problem development, high-quality data creation, planning systems assessment, and research-informed project execution. Selected professionals will apply subject matter expertise to create challenging domain problems, assess reasoning quality, and support structured evaluation work involving automated planning, symbolic reasoning, and advanced AI concepts.

Requirements

  • Advanced expertise in automated planning, symbolic AI, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, operations research, or a closely related field
  • Strong ability to create difficult, research-informed problems within a specialised technical domain
  • High attention to detail and ability to evaluate technical content with accuracy and nuance
  • Exceptional written communication skills and ability to explain complex reasoning clearly
  • Comfort applying structured rubrics, evaluation criteria, and project-specific guidelines consistently
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous, project-based environment
  • Strong judgment when identifying reasoning gaps, unsupported conclusions, or incomplete technical explanations
  • PhD, advanced degree, or equivalent research experience in a relevant technical field is preferred
  • Relevant fields may include Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Operations Research, automated planning, symbolic AI, formal methods, or related disciplines
  • Academic or professional experience involving AI research, planning systems, algorithm design, optimization, technical writing, or domain-specific evaluation is highly relevant
  • Experience with peer-reviewed research, graduate-level teaching, technical assessment, or advanced problem design may be especially valuable

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing research problems, technical prompts, exam questions, formal reasoning tasks, or advanced computer science assessments
  • Familiarity with planning algorithms, symbolic reasoning, search methods, PDDL-style planning, constraint-based reasoning, or operations research methods
  • Experience reviewing technical writing, research explanations, algorithmic reasoning, or structured AI outputs
  • Comfort identifying methodological issues, reasoning gaps, weak evidence, or unsupported technical conclusions
  • Strong ability to maintain consistency across detail-oriented technical evaluation tasks

Responsibilities

  • Develop challenging problems and prompts involving automated planning, symbolic AI, search, reasoning systems, planning representations, or operations research concepts
  • Create high-quality technical tasks that require advanced domain understanding and rigorous reasoning
  • Design problems that test conceptual depth, algorithmic thinking, formal reasoning, and research-level interpretation
  • Support data development work involving complex planning scenarios, structured problem solving, and domain-specific methodologies
  • Review AI-generated technical outputs for accuracy, completeness, reasoning quality, and domain relevance
  • Evaluate whether responses reflect sound planning logic, appropriate terminology, and correct interpretation of AI or computer science concepts
  • Identify unsupported claims, incomplete explanations, methodological gaps, weak reasoning, or missing technical nuance
  • Assess written outputs against structured rubrics and project-specific evaluation criteria
  • Provide clear, precise, and well-supported written feedback on technical reasoning outputs
  • Explain evaluation decisions with consistency, attention to detail, and domain-specific judgment
  • Follow detailed task instructions and apply technical review criteria accurately
  • Participate in screening, onboarding, calibration, or domain alignment activities when required

Benefits

  • Remote structure with flexible scheduling
  • Competitive hourly compensation
  • Competitive rates of $45–$65 per hour depending on expertise, research background, domain depth, and project scope
  • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
