About The Position

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for accomplished biology, biophysics, and life sciences researchers based in India, with strong research backgrounds across molecular biology, structural biology, immunology, neuroscience, genomics, biophysics, or adjacent scientific disciplines. This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on scientific reasoning, advanced research evaluation, literature interpretation, experimental design review, and domain-specific scientific assessment. Selected professionals may contribute expert judgment to challenging biology and biophysics problems that require the depth, nuance, and reasoning ability of an active researcher rather than general textbook-level knowledge.

Requirements

  • Advanced research experience in biology, biophysics, molecular biology, structural biology, immunology, neuroscience, genomics, or adjacent life sciences fields
  • Active or recent research role as a PhD candidate, postdoctoral researcher, instructor, faculty member, principal scientist, industry researcher, or comparable scientific contributor
  • Strong publication record, especially first-author or co-first-author work in respected journals
  • Research output that demonstrates depth, originality, and advanced scientific reasoning
  • Ability to evaluate complex scientific arguments, identify subtle mistakes, and explain research-level reasoning clearly
  • Strong written English communication skills and comfort working independently in a remote, part-time consulting environment
  • Current location in India
  • PhD training, postdoctoral training, or advanced doctoral-level research experience in biology, biophysics, life sciences, biomedical sciences, or a related STEM field is strongly preferred
  • Outstanding senior PhD students and recent graduates with strong publication records are encouraged to apply
  • Training at a highly regarded life sciences, biomedical sciences, or STEM institution is especially relevant
  • Equivalent high-level research experience may also be considered when supported by strong publications, patents, grants, or comparable research output

Nice To Haves

  • First-author or co-first-author publications in journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, PNAS, eLife, NEJM, Nature Methods, Nature Medicine, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Communications, or respected specialty journals
  • Competitive fellowships, awards, or grants such as HHMI, NIH F31/F32/K99, NSF GRFP/PRFB, Damon Runyon, Helen Hay Whitney, Jane Coffin Childs, Searle, Pew, Sloan, Packard, Simons, Fulbright, or equivalent distinctions
  • Issued patents, spin-out companies, or grants where the contributor was a named PI or co-PI
  • Experience with scientific peer review, grant review, experimental design, literature synthesis, or advanced research mentorship
  • Strong familiarity with current research methods, experimental systems, and field-specific reasoning in one or more life sciences domains

Responsibilities

  • Author and review challenging biology, biophysics, and life sciences problems requiring advanced research-level reasoning
  • Create and evaluate tasks involving molecular biology, structural biology, immunology, neuroscience, genomics, or adjacent scientific domains
  • Assess whether scientific prompts, problems, and expected answers reflect accurate research-level understanding
  • Help ensure technical materials are rigorous, nuanced, and appropriate for advanced scientific evaluation workflows
  • Evaluate scientific outputs involving mechanism prediction, experimental design, literature interpretation, and biological reasoning
  • Identify reasoning gaps, unsupported assumptions, oversimplifications, or errors that an experienced researcher would recognize
  • Provide detailed feedback on scientific accuracy, experimental validity, conceptual clarity, and domain-specific reasoning quality
  • Surface areas where current technical systems struggle with advanced biological or biophysical concepts
  • Review scientific content for alignment with current research standards, experimental logic, and field-specific terminology
  • Interpret complex biological and biophysical problems using professional research judgment
  • Assess edge cases, ambiguous findings, and nuanced scientific conclusions across advanced life sciences topics
  • Contribute expertise on how working researchers approach uncertainty, evidence, and experimental interpretation
  • Document review decisions, scientific reasoning, assumptions, and quality concerns clearly
  • Collaborate with program teams and other senior contributors to uphold high research-quality standards
  • Provide structured feedback that can support improved scientific evaluation workflows
  • Contribute to high-quality standards for advanced biology and biophysics review projects

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly compensation in the range of $40–$60/hour, depending on research seniority, credentials, project scope, and fit
  • Payments are made weekly via Stripe or Wise based on services rendered
  • Flexible engagement designed for accomplished researchers who can contribute expert judgment alongside existing academic, research, or industry commitments
  • Fully remote and flexible scheduling
  • Part-time commitment of approximately 8–20 hours per week, depending on project needs and availability
