This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on AI scientific reasoning evaluation, domain-specific problem development, high-quality data creation, advanced biology assessment, and research-informed project execution. Selected professionals will apply subject matter expertise to create challenging domain problems, assess scientific reasoning quality, and support structured evaluation work involving advanced biological and evolutionary concepts.

Requirements

  • Advanced expertise in Phylogenetics, Evolutionary Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, Ecology & Evolution, or a closely related field
  • Strong ability to create difficult, research-informed problems within a specialised scientific domain
  • High attention to detail and ability to evaluate scientific content with accuracy and nuance
  • Exceptional written communication skills and ability to explain scientific reasoning clearly
  • Comfort applying structured rubrics, evaluation criteria, and project-specific guidelines consistently
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous, project-based environment
  • Strong judgment when identifying reasoning gaps, unsupported conclusions, or incomplete scientific explanations
  • PhD, advanced degree, or equivalent research experience in a relevant biological sciences field is preferred
  • Relevant fields may include Evolutionary Biology, Phylogenetics, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, Ecology & Evolution, or related disciplines
  • Academic or professional experience involving scientific research, data analysis, research writing, biological modeling, computational methods, or domain-specific evaluation is highly relevant
  • Experience with peer-reviewed research, graduate-level teaching, scientific assessment, or advanced technical writing may be especially valuable

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing research problems, exam questions, technical prompts, scientific exercises, or advanced biology assessments
  • Familiarity with phylogenetic methods, evolutionary inference, comparative biology, genomics workflows, or computational biology tools
  • Experience reviewing scientific writing, research explanations, technical documentation, or structured scientific outputs
  • Comfort identifying methodological issues, reasoning gaps, weak evidence, or unsupported scientific conclusions
  • Strong ability to maintain consistency across detail-oriented scientific evaluation tasks

Responsibilities

  • Develop challenging problems and prompts involving phylogenetics, evolutionary biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, or ecology and evolution
  • Create high-quality scientific tasks that require advanced domain understanding and rigorous reasoning
  • Design problems that test conceptual depth, analytical thinking, scientific accuracy, and research-level interpretation
  • Support data development work involving complex biological systems, evolutionary relationships, and domain-specific methodologies
  • Review AI-generated scientific outputs for accuracy, completeness, reasoning quality, and domain relevance
  • Evaluate whether responses reflect sound scientific reasoning, appropriate terminology, and correct interpretation of biological concepts
