The operator will provide telephone service and directory assistance remotely during switchboard hours, Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm. The role involves answering and transferring calls, answering basic questions about departments, providing contact information and locations, assisting with long-distance dialing, sharing information about special events, and giving on-campus directions. The position requires independent work with occasional collaboration for coverage and communication of changes. Essential skills include excellent communication, customer service, organizational abilities, and familiarity with business telephone systems. Access to stable high-speed internet is necessary for the remote work location.
