About The Position

The Switchboard Operator is responsible for answering phones, directing calls, contacting providers, and handling basic patient scheduling questions. As a Float, you will be cross-trained across multiple specialties to offer support for Switchboard and scheduling based on business needs. A typical day will involve answering between 200-300 phone calls based on Switchboard and Float responsibilities. This is a part-time position with 24 hours per week, featuring 8-hour shifts. Training is conducted ONSITE at the Corporate Office in Downers Grove for 4+ weeks, with remote work offered after successful completion of the training program based on performance. Ongoing training will occur regularly and will require onsite presence throughout the year. Training will be conducted during the week, Monday - Friday.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Basic computer program and keyboard typing knowledge
• One to two years of medical office experience
• Previous experience, one to two years of successful call center or scheduling in a healthcare central scheduling department.
• Experience in typing, use of keyboard and computer entry.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and windows-based programs.

Nice To Haves

• Previous call center and/or medical scheduling experience preferred
• Knowledge of healthcare terminology a plus

Responsibilities

• Handling inbound Contact Center interactions (phone, email, MyChart, TOC, faxes, etc.)
• Follow HIPAA policy and procedures
• Understand and support the department policies and procedure
• Paging of clinical staff
• Follow paging protocols
• Answer basic scheduling related questions i.e. directions to site, site hours, provider info, requests for MyChart login
• Verifying and cancelling appointments
• Escalation of clinical patient inquiries when necessary to appropriate physician site/department
• Collect payment/patient balances
