About The Position

Set up, adjust and operates one or more Swiss CNC Lathe machines to produce metal components with tight tolerances in a job shop with daily set-ups. The position requires the individual to be able to take the program and set up the machine and meet production set-up and run times.

Requirements

Ability to read and understand blueprints.
1+ years of set-up and operating of a Swiss CNC.

Responsibilities

Set up, adjust and operate Swiss CNC Lathe machines.
Produce metal components with tight tolerances.
Take programs and set up machines to meet production set-up and run times.
Read machining instructions, blueprints, work orders, and specification sheets to define machine settings and fixtures.
Power up and down the machine, load and unload parts, and ensure proper tooling.
Set up and operate machines to verify accuracy of CNC settings or programs.
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
Compute gear dimensions or machine settings.
Verify conformance of parts to specifications using micrometers, gages, and computerized gear checker.
Comply with all work instructions, following and maintaining ISO/QS Standards and Northern Gear & Machining procedures, and quality certification requirements.
Conduct assigned and necessary preventative maintenance procedures.
Detect machine malfunctions, test machine operation for functionality and performance, and make adjustments as needed.
Confer with engineers, programmers, production employees, and management to resolve machining issues.
Contribute to continuous improvement, improved tool life, reduction of tooling costs, machine downtime, improved set up time, and implementation of quality improvements.
Assist and train operators as needed.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
