About The Position

The purpose of this position is to be skilled on a variety of jobs on the line, in the department or facility in order to assist the supervisor when needed. This role requires flexibility to learn new positions and duties, good communication skills to orientate new employees, and the ability to adapt quickly to new situations. The position also involves understanding and supporting Simmons Operating Systems principles, including quality, security, and company policies, and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. Other duties may be assigned to support business objectives.

Requirements

Must be able to work in cool, wet, noisy environments with temperature extremes, on feet for entire shift.
Must be able to lift 35 lbs to shoulder height, push or pull 1000 lbs.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a company issued pallet jack and forklift license.

Nice To Haves

Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
High School Diploma or GED.

Accomplish various jobs correctly and efficiently and be flexible to learn new positions and duties as the need becomes available.
Have good communication skills to help orientate new employees to the jobs.
Adapts to new positions quickly and to new situations in all the areas.
Performs various jobs on the line, in the department or in the facility as assigned jobs at established production level.
Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Travel between facilities and farms as needed to fill in for Driver Helpers.
Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a company issued pallet jack and forklift license.
