About The Position

The purpose of this position is to load buggies of eggs into the Chick Tray Destacker and to operate controls on the machine for proper operation. This role involves meeting production requirements through the correct operation of the Chick Tray Destacker. The operator will manually load buggies of chicks onto the machine, observe flock numbers, keep flocks separate, control switches, and make minor adjustments as necessary. When the machine breaks down, the operator will transfer chicks from dumped trays onto a conveyor for vaccination, separating out empty eggshells and discarding them. The operator is also responsible for cleaning and disinfecting the work area at the end of each shift. Additionally, the role requires active participation as a team member, fostering cohesiveness, and supporting team goals and policies. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems, including quality and security, is expected, along with understanding the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. Requirements

Basic math skills.
Ability to lift 35-pound trays of chicks from buggies, from floor to shoulder height, and dump them onto a chest-level conveyor.
Ability to work in temperature extremes.
Ability to be on feet for the entire shift.
Visually verify information, often in small print.
Use appropriate footwear, hearing protection, and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Nice To Haves

Preference for poultry or food processing organization experience.
High School Diploma or GED.
Military experience is valued.

Responsibilities

Load buggies of eggs into the Chick Tray Destacker.
Operate controls on the Chick Tray Destacker for proper operation.
