About The Position

The purpose of this position is to be skilled on a variety of jobs on the line, in the department or facility in order to assist the supervisor when needed. This role requires the ability to accomplish various jobs correctly and efficiently, be flexible to learn new positions and duties, and adapt to new situations quickly. The individual will perform various jobs on the line, in the department, or in the facility as assigned at established production levels. This position also involves participating as a member of the team, fostering cohesiveness, and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies. The role requires familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems. Other duties may be assigned to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in cool, wet, noisy environments with temperature extremes, on feet for entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs to shoulder height, push or pull 1000 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a company issued pallet jack and forklift license.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Military experience is valued.

  • Accomplish various jobs correctly and efficiently and be flexible to learn new positions and duties as the need becomes available.
  • Have good communication skills to help orientate new employees to the jobs.
  • Adapts to new positions quickly and to new situations in all the areas.
  • Performs various jobs on the line, in the department or in the facility as assigned jobs at established production level.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
