About The Position

The Swim Instructor will follow YUSA established lesson plans, understand stroke progression, and implement the Core Values into lesson plans. They will communicate with families on a regular basis about program information and the child’s progression in swimming. The role involves completing swim assessments, evaluations, and certificates of completion, identifying and correcting incorrect swimming techniques, and adjusting teaching techniques according to swimmer’s needs. The instructor will maintain tracking of class attendance and ensure participants are released to caretakers. Additionally, they will provide exceptional customer service, foster connections with members, participate in and satisfactorily complete in-service trainings, and create a welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all members and guests. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a staff team, ensure building, grounds, and equipment are in working order, and report any concerns. Maintaining certifications and taking advantage of professional growth opportunities is also part of the role, as is supporting the annual campaign process. The Swim Instructor must understand their role as a mandated reporter of elder and child abuse and respond in accordance with policies and procedures. Ensuring the safety of children in facilities and programs and that proper supervision is provided is paramount. Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old
Ability to obtain a criminal recordρεία clearance, if over 18 years old
High School Diploma or equivalent
valid work permit required if a minor
If applicable, complete YUSA swim instructor certification within 90 days of hire
Complete required certification within 60 days of hire
Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience with children or in related field preferred
