Swim Instructor
About The Position
Goldfish Swim School is hiring year-round, part-time swim instructors. Instructors teach children water safety and swimming techniques using the Goldfish Swim School curriculum, then communicate each student's progress and accomplishments to parents or caregivers after 30-minute lessons. The role includes paid training, a set weekly schedule, lifeguard certification, and opportunities for advancement, including leadership opportunities within the first 3–6 months. Lessons take place in a warm, humid environment with a 90-degree chlorinated pool. Weekday lessons end by 8:00 p.m.; there are no Saturday or Sunday night shifts.
Requirements
- Ability to work with children.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to complete lifeguard, CPR, and AED certification classes as part of training.
- Ability to perform job functions in a warm, humid setting and chlorinated pool, including lifting, standing for extended periods, demonstrating curriculum skills, and performing in-water rescues if necessary.
Responsibilities
- Provide swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
- Educate students on safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents.
- Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Communicate with parents and guardians about students’ activities and development of their swimming skills.
- Use problem-solving and creative thinking to identify and resolve challenges students encounter.
- Maintain and properly store pool equipment, and place and remove lane lines and class materials before and after lessons.
- Perform occasional light cleaning, such as window washing, deck mopping, and trash removal.
- Attend occasional mandatory workshops and in-service training outside regular working hours.
- Work scheduled shifts as a lifeguard.
