About The Position
Greendale Family Branch YMCA is seeking year-round Swim Instructors to join their Aquatics Team. Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching skills and techniques to various age groups while maintaining a safe and friendly pool environment for members. Typical hours vary, including weekdays, daytime, evenings, and weekends, with a preference for daytime and evening weekday availability. The YMCA focuses on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, providing an environment that reflects, respects, and celebrates diversity.
Requirements
- Be at least 16 years old.
- Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing (using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination; no back or side swimming allowed).
- Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs.
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: start in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive (feet-first or headfirst) to 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards on the back carrying the object with face at or near the surface for breath, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
- Hold Swim Instructor certification or be willing to earn swim instruction certification.
