About The Position

Join our Parks and Recreation team as an Aquatics/Swim Instructor and make a lasting impact by teaching life-saving skills in a fun, supportive environment. This role involves teaching swimming lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels, creating a positive learning environment, educating on facility rules, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the aquatic facility.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification through the American Red Cross is preferred.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and AED certifications are preferred.
• Candidates who do not currently hold these certifications may be required to obtain them as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels, helping them build confidence while learning essential water safety and accident prevention skills.
• Create a positive, engaging, and encouraging learning environment where every swimmer feels welcomed and supported.
• Educate participants and families on Parks and Recreation facility rules and promote safe behavior in and around the pool.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents, guardians, and fellow staff to ensure an exceptional experience.
• Monitor pool conditions by inspecting equipment and promptly reporting maintenance or safety concerns.
• Help keep our aquatic facility clean, safe, and inviting by maintaining the pool deck, emptying skimmer baskets and trash receptacles, brushing pool walls, and completing routine cleaning tasks.
• Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism while serving the public and working collaboratively with teammates in accordance with the City's Ethics Policy.
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace where everyone works together to provide outstanding customer service.
