About The Position

Supports the store manager in overseeing the daily operations of the store and its employees. Perform the managerial duties as required. Assists in the daily operations. Also assists in the management of a retail store that is engaged in the selling of gasoline, liquor, cigarettes and groceries. Ability to successfully complete Class C Certification and know what to do in case of fuel spills at your location.

Requirements

Computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to deal effectively with a variety of people and situations.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
Maintains a valid Driver’s License and be insurable under company insurance provider/program.

Nice To Haves

(2) years related experience preferred; or four (4) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Assists in the daily operations of a retail store selling gasoline, liquor, cigarettes, and groceries.
Completes Class C Certification and understands procedures for fuel spills.
Participates in inventory preparation and execution.
Trains or supervises the training of new employees (openers or closers), provides retraining, and handles documentation.
Coaches and mentors under-performing staff and reports personnel issues to the Store Manager.
Handles cash, check, and credit card transactions according to policy.
Orders merchandise or prepares requisitions to replenish stock.
Assists with sales promotions, pricing, and notifying employees of promotional activities.
Ensures employees verify IDs for tobacco and alcohol purchases for individuals under 30.
Maintains store cleanliness, appearance, and product representation to company standards.
Ensures customer needs are met, resolves complaints, and emphasizes customer service.
Provides the manager with objective feedback on employee performance and behavior.
Implements strategies to improve customer service, drive sales, and increase profitability.
Completes daily paperwork, makes deposits, and fills the change box.
Completes or assists with employee scheduling and controls overtime hours.
Acts as store manager in their absence.
Adapts to new store environments if transferred.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
