About The Position

The Sweep Truck Operator is responsible for safely operating a commercial parking lot sweeper truck during overnight shifts while ensuring all assigned properties are serviced according to company quality standards. This position includes managing an assigned route, completing required inspections, performing basic equipment maintenance, and communicating operational issues to management. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependability, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
  • Experience using smartphones, GPS systems, and mobile applications for work documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • CDL is not required but is preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial driving, equipment operation, landscaping, street sweeping, or related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a commercial sweeper truck in accordance with company policies and traffic laws.
  • Complete scheduled sweeping services for parking lots, curbs, dumpster enclosures, loading areas, sidewalks, and property entrances.
  • Follow established routes and schedules while maximizing efficiency and service quality.
  • Utilize backpack blowers, portering equipment, and hand tools as needed to clean hard-to-reach areas.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and accurately complete inspection reports.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and report mechanical issues immediately.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, cleaning filters, greasing components, and maintaining equipment cleanliness.
  • Maintain accurate route documentation, service logs, fuel records, and work orders.
  • Communicate property concerns, safety hazards, customer issues, or damage observations to supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and operational standards.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of company vehicles, equipment, and work areas.
  • Provide on-the-job training and support to new or backup drivers when assigned.
  • Use GPS, route management software, and mobile applications to document work and complete assigned tasks.
