About The Position

The Performance Test Lead is responsible for defining, planning, and executing performance testing strategies to ensure application scalability, reliability, and stability under expected and peak workloads. This role leads to performance testing activities across projects, works closely with cross functional teams, and ensures performance risks are identified and mitigated early in the delivery lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with performance testing tools such as:
  • LoadRunner
  • JMeter
  • Gatling (or similar)
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Web and API based architectures
  • Microservices and distributed systems
  • Databases (SQL/NoSQL)
  • Middleware and messaging systems
  • Experience analyzing system metrics using tools like:
  • AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or similar
  • Knowledge of capacity planning and performance tuning concepts.
  • 7–8 years of hands on experience in performance testing within telecom environments, including OSS/BSS platforms, network provisioning, inventory, activation, and assurance systems.
  • Prior experience as a Performance Test Lead preferred, with the ability to:
  • Own end to end performance testing for telecom applications and network driven workflows
  • Lead performance test planning, execution, and reporting across complex, integrated systems
  • Strong understanding of telecom architectures and workflows, including:
  • Service provisioning and activation
  • Network inventory and design systems
  • Order management and fulfillment flows
  • Experience validating performance for high volume transactions, large datasets, and peak traffic scenarios common in telecom environments.
  • Proven ability to analyze performance metrics, identify application, database, middleware, or network bottlenecks, and work with cross functional teams (Network, OSS, Infra, DevOps) to drive resolution.
  • Ability to provide clear, executive ready performance readiness assessments and go/no go recommendations for releases impacting telecom operations.
  • 8+ years of overall a performance testing role.
  • Experience working in enterprise scale applications.
  • Hands on experience in Agile / SAFe / DevOps environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science/IT/Computing /industrial engineering or equivalent/system analysis
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a software testing SDLC environment and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge in the domain (Methods & testing tools functional or non-functional).
  • Experience in leading tasks and/or mentoring testers (low scale).
  • Telecom experience/knowledge.
  • Amdocs business and cross portfolio knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings to technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Performance testing in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to telecom, financial services, or large infrastructure platforms.
  • Relevant certifications (LoadRunner, JMeter, ISTQB Performance Testing).

Responsibilities

  • Performance Testing Strategy & Planning
  • Define and own the end to end performance testing strategy across applications and platforms.
  • Identify performance testing scope, objectives, success criteria, and risks.
  • Create and maintain performance test plans, scenarios, and schedules aligned with release timelines.
  • Ensure coverage for load, stress, endurance, spike, and scalability testing.
  • Test Design & Execution
  • Design realistic workload models based on business usage patterns.
  • Develop, review, and maintain performance test scripts using approved tools.
  • Execute performance tests in SIT, UAT, and pre production environments.
  • Coordinate test execution windows with environment, infrastructure, and release teams.
  • Analysis & Reporting
  • Monitor system performance metrics including:
  • Response times
  • Throughput
  • Resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk, network)
  • Analyze test results to identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and failure points.
  • Produce clear, executive ready performance reports with findings, trends, and recommendations.
  • Provide go/no go recommendations for production releases from a performance perspective.
  • Defect Management & Optimization
  • Log, track, and manage performance defects through resolution.
  • Collaborate with development, architecture, DB, middleware, and infrastructure teams to drive fixes.
  • Validate performance improvements through re testing and benchmarking.
  • Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead and mentor performance testing team members.
  • Coordinate with:
  • Development teams
  • DevOps / Infrastructure
  • Database and middleware teams
  • Business and product stakeholders
  • Ensure performance testing is integrated into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
