About The Position

The Director of IT oversees all IT (Information Technology) functions of the bank. This position manages the bank’s technology operations and implementation of new IT systems and policies. The Director of IT oversees all technology operations and evaluates them regularly according to the bank’s short, mid and long-term goals, devises and establishes IT and Cyber Security policies and systems to support implementation strategies and analyzes the business requirements of all departments to determine technology needs.

Requirements

  • College degree in Information Technology or similar position, or commensurate experience
  • Proven experience as IT Director or similar role in banking/credit union
  • Good written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks and multitask; Excellent time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills with strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of banking rules, regulations, laws and all policies and procedures pertaining to them including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware and software), networks, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of IT and Cybersecurity as they relate to banking specifically
  • Thorough knowledge of banking systems, software, hardware, telecom and Internet systems

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the bank’s relationship with outside IT partner
  • Manage the bank’s Cyber Security strategies and efforts including: Annual completion of the bank’s Cyber Security Risk Assessment
  • Submit annual Information Security Officer report
  • Oversee vendor management as it related to IT and its functions, including: Evaluate, identify, and manage vendor relationship specific to IT
  • Review vendor disaster recovery and business continuity programs
  • Examine vendor Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 18 (SSAE 18)
  • Resolve or delegate the resolution of all computer-related problems
  • Oversee all technology operations and evaluate them according to regulatory guidance and established goals
  • Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support implementation strategies
  • Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine technology needs and establishing priorities
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify intrusions
  • Optimize ongoing network design
  • Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to the executive management team
  • Complete action items timely, as identified by the bank’s external IT audit partner
  • Prepares accurate and timely board packet for the Chairperson of the bank’s IT and Cybersecurity Board Committee and participates in IT Board meetings
  • Work with department heads and executive management team to devise and oversee the bank’s IT budget
  • Review IT policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance; recommend policy and procedural changes to improve performance, system security and compliance as it pertains to IT
  • Manage IT employee(s) including hiring, training and development and performance reviews
  • Assist in strategic planning and risk analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned
