About The Position

The SV Coordinator Shelter provides trauma-informed victim services to victims of sexual violence and their children, including individualized support, intensive case management, emotional support, crisis intervention, and referrals to supportive services. The role also includes community education and outreach, with regular participation in community events, and completion of contract and regulatory compliance activities. The position is with Unity House, a Rensselaer County-based human service agency serving people experiencing poverty, mental illness, HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, and developmental delays in children.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Valid, clean New York State driver’s license and reliable transportation.
1–3 years of experience working with victims of violence or similar populations.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist victims and their children with needs identified through individual assessments.
Provide intensive case management and supports.
Provide emotional support and crisis intervention.
Connect clients with supportive services through linkages and referrals.
Complete contract and/or regulatory compliance activities.
Promote a work culture of inclusion and belonging.
Provide community education and outreach, including regular participation in community events.
