About The Position

Donohoe Companies is seeking a Sustainability Manager to join their Facilities Management team in Washington DC. This role will support specific buildings by driving sustainability strategies, policies, programs, and initiatives. The manager will leverage experience to support innovation and cutting-edge technology in building management and maintenance for a large financial institution. Working as a business partner with the customer and site leadership, the Sustainability Manager will help establish policies, set execution direction, and report on monthly progress towards goals. This role involves researching sustainability areas within assigned buildings, including Data Analytics, Technology, Building Interior/Exterior, Energy Conservation, Green Cleaning, Waste Management & Recycling, Landscaping, and other sustainability-related fields. The position will also support the research, development, and implementation of programs to improve the organization's environmental impact while aligning with business goals, and ensure adherence to laws and industry regulations.

Requirements

LEED AP, Certified Energy Manager, Renewable Energy Professional, International Society of Sustainability Professionals, or Certified Facility Manager.
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Science or equivalent field preferred.
5+ years of experience managing or leading a sustainability program.
Experience leading sustainability programs specifically geared around facilities management & operations.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Critical thinking.
Strong background in project management, particularly with planning methods and coordinating and leading programs.
Ability to collaborate and coordinate efforts among internal and external departments.

Nice To Haves

Certification within one of the following: International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), International Facility Management Association (IMFA), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

Responsibilities

Drive sustainability strategies, policies, programs, and initiatives for assigned buildings.
Support innovation activities utilizing best practices and leading-edge technology for building management/maintenance.
Act as a business partner with the customer and site leadership.
Assist in establishing policies and setting direction for execution.
Report on monthly progress towards established sustainability goals.
Research areas of sustainability within assigned buildings, including Data Analytics, Technology, Building Interior/Exterior, Energy Conservation, Green Cleaning, Waste Management & Recycling programs, Landscaping, and all other sustainability areas.
Assist in the research, development, and implementation of programs that improve the organization’s environmental impact.
Ensure adherence to all laws and industry regulations related to sustainability.
