About The Position

We are looking to add a Sustainability Manager role to our Facilities Management team located in Washington DC. As a Sustainability Manager, you will be assigned to support a set of specific buildings to drive sustainability strategies, policies, programs, and initiatives. You will leverage your current experience; supporting innovation activities utilizing best practices to support leading-edge technology for the building management/maintenance organization for a large financial institution. Working with the site leadership as a business partner with our customer, you will be an integral part of a team to assist in establishing policies, setting direction toward execution, and reporting on monthly progress to established goals. Within this role, the Sustainability Manager will be empowered to assist in supporting the mission holistically by researching areas of sustainability within the assigned buildings, including but not limited to Data Analytics, Technology, Building Interior / Exterior, Energy Conservation, Green Cleaning, Waste Management & Recycling programs, Landscaping, and all other sustainability areas. The SM's duties will also include assisting in the research, development, and implementation of programs that improve the organization’s environmental impact without detracting from other business goals. This role will also support ensuring adherence to all laws and industry regulations.

Requirements

  • LEED AP, Certified Energy Manager, Renewable Energy Professional, International Society of Sustainability Professionals, Certified Facility Manager (at least one required).
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Science or equivalent field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience managing or leading a sustainability program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Strong background in project management preferred, particularly with planning methods and coordinating and leading programs.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate efforts among internal and external departments.
  • Experience may be substituted for education.
  • Professionals with a bachelor’s degree in an applicable sustainability-related area are preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading sustainability programs specifically geared around facilities management & operations.
  • Certification within one of the following: International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), International Facility Management Association (IMFA), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
