About The Position

Donohoe Companies is seeking a passionate Sustainability Manager to join their Facilities Management team in Washington DC. This role is crucial for driving sustainability strategies, policies, programs, and initiatives within specific buildings. The Sustainability Manager will leverage their expertise to support innovation and cutting-edge technology in building management and maintenance for a large financial institution. Acting as a business partner with the customer and site leadership, this individual will be instrumental in establishing policies, setting execution direction, and reporting on progress towards monthly goals. The role involves researching various sustainability areas within assigned buildings, including Data Analytics, Technology, Building Interior/Exterior, Energy Conservation, Green Cleaning, Waste Management & Recycling programs, and Landscaping. Additionally, the Sustainability Manager will assist in the research, development, and implementation of programs to improve the organization's environmental impact while supporting business objectives and ensuring compliance with laws and industry regulations.

Requirements

  • At least one of the following certifications: LEED AP, Certified Energy Manager, Renewable Energy Professional, International Society of Sustainability Professionals, Certified Facility Manager.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Science or equivalent field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience managing or leading a sustainability program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Strong background in project management preferred, particularly with planning methods and coordinating and leading programs.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate efforts among internal and external departments.
  • Experience may be substituted for education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading sustainability programs specifically geared around facilities management & operations.
  • Professionals with a bachelor’s degree in an applicable sustainability-related area are preferred.
  • Certification within one of the following: International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), International Facility Management Association (IMFA), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

Responsibilities
