About The Position

Hai Hospitality is hiring Sushi Prep Cooks for Uchi Austin. This full-time, entry-level role provides foundational experience toward becoming a sushi chef, with training and guidance and opportunities for advancement. The company promotes almost exclusively from within. Sushi Prep Cooks produce ingredients and prepare the sushi line, including fabricating fish, making sauces, preparing vegetables and produce, and preparing sushi rice. The starting pay range is $17.00–$19.00.

Requirements

Effectively communicate with guests and other employees.
Identify safety issues and comply with safety guidelines and standards.
Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 pounds; stock inventory and restock.
Stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, and reach to access areas and items.
Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and in a variety of hot and cold temperatures.
Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements.
Safely and efficiently use kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, and knives.
Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs.
Work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area.
Tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors.
Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including proper uniform and personal grooming.
Understand directives and communicate effectively with leadership and coworkers.

Responsibilities

Produce ingredients and set up the sushi line.
Fabricate fish and prepare sauces, vegetables, produce, and sushi rice.
Maintain a neat, organized workspace, properly store supplies, and clean surfaces.
Follow safety guidelines and standards and use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Stock inventory and perform restocking duties.
Communicate effectively with guests, leadership, and coworkers.
