About The Position

The expected hiring range for this position is $41.43-$50.53. This is a 3-year term position. Fermilab is America’s premier laboratory for particle physics and accelerator research, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. We support discovery science experiments in Illinois and locations around the world, including deep underground mines in South Dakota and Canada, mountaintops in Arizona and Chile, CERN in Europe and the South Pole.

Requirements

High school diploma with 5+ years of experience in an applicable engineering discipline.
Professional knowledge and experience in applying basic theories, concepts, principles, and methodology for practicing in the engineering discipline.
Professional knowledge of new methods and materials, fabrication planning, procurement management, project commissioning, and budget and staff management.
Performs basic electrical or mechanical engineering design solutions and techniques.
Ability to make decisions based on sound engineering principles.
Communicates cooperatively and effectively with peers, other Laboratory staff, and vendors of materials and services.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Develops detailed engineering design and performs manual technical work.
Specifies materials and methods of an assigned project.
Directs procurement of commercially available products needed for the project.
Directs installation of materials and commissioning on assigned project.
Ensures the availability of all appropriate documentation.
Creates a work plan and complies with safety pre-requisites.
Provides design and installation advice and guidance to peers.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
