About The Position

At the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), we plan, build, maintain, and protect the transportation systems that connect communities, support commerce, and keep Louisiana moving. This position is located in the Design Section of District 04 and reports to the Surveyor Supervisor. The incumbent serves as the functional supervisor of the District 04 Survey Crew and is responsible for performing land surveying duties using GPS and computer technology. The position requires a current Louisiana Professional Land Surveyor License, knowledge of Louisiana Property Law, participation in required training and continuing education, and the ability to work independently and effectively respond to unforeseen conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct roadway, property, drainage, and right-of-way surveys for District 04 projects.
  • Prepare right-of-way maps and coordinate survey information with design staff.
  • Perform forensic surveys for accident sites, including topographic surveys and right-of-way/property information.
  • Train engineering technicians on surveying methods, equipment, software, and legal requirements.
  • Assist with other duties as needed, including emergency and disaster response activities.
