About The Position

This program is designed for students currently pursuing a two- or four-year degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the internship experience. It is not designed for graduates. Falkirk looks at this position as an opportunity to expose an Engineer/Surveying student to a working operation and show the individual how an engineering group functions in a working operation. At the same time, Falkirk will utilize the individual’s time to accomplish tasks that will benefit the operation. This is an excellent opportunity to get real world experience in a high energy and fun work environment. The successful applicant should have strong computer skills (experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD are a plus). This is a 3-month position (May 2027 through August 2027) or an 8-month position (May 2027 through December 2027).

Requirements

Enrolled in accredited engineering/surveying program and in good academic standing with the college or university.
Completed at least 1 year of college in the associated field of study and intents on completing the degree.
Applicants need to have a valid driver’s license
Steel-toed Shoes
Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and the applicable Job Function Test (JFT).

Responsibilities

Assist the survey crew with office computations and fieldwork utilizing GPS, drones, robotic total station, or a remote-controlled boat.
Work with various forms of engineering/surveying data to produce reports or studies.
Assist in the preparation of mining maps and permits.
Assist in engineering projects with field oversite and/or design of mine roads, ponds, and special projects.
Work on the groundwater, soil sampling, and geological programs.
Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
