About The Position

This position is within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Licensing and Certification. As a surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting licensing surveys for Home and Community Support Service Agencies to ensure compliance with applicable state licensing rules. You will investigate complaints and facility-generated incident reports alleging non-compliance with State rules. Your role will involve determining compliance based on observation, document review, and interviews. You will also be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring licensing activities for your assigned workload, working under limited supervision. This position requires statewide travel and occasional overnight stays, and an occasional night or weekend survey.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of education and/or professional experience in social services casework, social services program development/delivery, or social services related fiscal/budget administration/analysis work.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting licensing surveys for Home and Community Support Service Agencies to ensure compliance with applicable state licensing rules.
  • Investigating complaints and facility-generated incident reports alleging non-compliance with State rules.
  • Determining, based on observation, document review, and interviews, whether agencies/programs are in compliance with licensing requirements.
  • Planning, coordinating, and monitoring licensing activities for your assigned workload.
  • Completing investigations of allegations of noncompliance and completing scheduled inspections related to license issuance.
  • Documenting survey and investigation findings in Statements of Deficiencies in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Interviewing complainants and witnesses to obtain information regarding complaint allegations and completing detailed investigation reports.
  • Reviewing records and making observations of agency operations.
  • Reviewing agency-generated Plans of Correction to ensure that these plans address all deficiencies cited.
  • Providing technical assistance to agencies/providers.
  • Participating in appropriate training and staff meetings at the request of the supervisor/manager.
