Requirements

  • 5 plus years of experience in Land Surveying to include Construction Staking is required
  • Strong Computer Skills, working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as PLS, SIT is a plus - prefer someone certified or wanting to be on that path
  • Drone Pilot License is a plus
  • Experience with MicroStation is a plus
  • Prior experience with civil engineering projects preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of BGE employees, clients, and other stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard surveying techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications
  • Processing design plans to staking files for field crews including review of the accuracy and constructability of the design prior to staking
  • Conduct and oversee infrastructure and utility staking: ensuring proper site layout, control, and adherence to plans.
  • Manage a field crew to perform surveying and staking projects
  • Plan, schedules conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the surveying work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
  • Perform work that involves conventional surveying practice but may include a variety of complex features
  • Direct conversations with clients at beginning, during, and end of projects
  • Capable of supervising or coordinating the work of surveyors, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments
  • Ability to process and prepare drawings
  • Coordination with other BGE departments internally and externally to operate as One Team
