About The Position

Bolton & Menk is accepting applications for its 2027 summer internship season at its Willmar location. The Survey Field Intern will spend most of their time in the field working with an experienced crew chief and applying classroom skills to real-world projects. The role involves surveying work and interaction with staff, landowners, contractors, and subcontractors. Candidates must be able to work outdoors for extended periods and navigate rugged terrain. Relocation and housing are not included. The company does not provide visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the start of employment without current or future visa sponsorship.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Land Surveying, Survey Technician, or a related field at an accredited post-secondary institution.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
Ability to work in extended outdoor conditions and navigate rugged terrain to perform job duties.
Valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the firm's standard rates.
Must own personal transportation.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the start of employment without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
A motor vehicle record check will be conducted during onboarding.

Nice To Haves

Desired cumulative GPA of 3.2.
General coursework in surveying and completion of AutoCAD drafting are preferred.
Previous internship experience with Bolton & Menk may be preferred.
Relevant experience may be considered depending on project or client complexity.

Responsibilities

Assist with boundary surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and GPS data collection.
Participate in construction staking.
Gain experience using Trimble, robotic total station, and GPS equipment.
Interact with staff, landowners, contractors, and subcontractors.
